Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of eight I took a few art classes in the basement of a brownstone. The next time I would have an opportunity of pursuing art was high school.
Art unfortunately would not be my chosen path at that time. Wall Street would pique my interest for the next 22 years. Then in 1999 I relocated to Houston after being persuaded to work as a trader at a top major Oil & Gas Co.
I used my creative side in each role over the course of my career which has undoubtedly added to my business success. Something to be said about using both sides of the brain.
I now have the opportunity to pursue my creative potential professionally as an emerging artist. Self-taught and passionate. Exploring all mediums in 2D and 3D. I have been drawn to fire. The flame as it dances is at times unforgiving and for someone who has always been in control we make a great team. Therefore in most or all of my artwork you will find fumage (soot)
Artist Statement : In the words of Stella Adler “Life beats down and crushes the soul, and art reminds you that you have one”.
I attempt to construct intense personal moments masterfully created through mixed media artworks and sculptures. Wanting the viewer to imagine their own interpretation without being hindered where past and present fuse. Time and memory always play a key role. By applying abstraction, I want to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate tranquil metaphors that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition and separation.
Life has come full circle, from the streets Brooklyn to Wall Street to the fervour of Houston. I have only just discovered the energetic art world here at my fingertips. Since I was eight the passion for art was for sure in my soul and I now get to share my visions hoping each who observe takes a little something away with them.
